Dante Blackmon receives invite to Colts minicamp

Dante Blackmon made history this weekend as he became the first player in Kennesaw State history to receive mincamp invites from NFL teams.

The former Owls cornerback received minicamp invites from the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts. Blackmon decided to join the Colts and they will begin their minicamp on May 12.

“For a program just two years old, this is another important step in our progression,” said head coach Brian Bohannon via KSUOwls.com. “I couldn’t be more proud of Dante. He’s done it right, both on and off the field, and he absolutely deserves this opportunity. I look forward to him competing in Indianapolis, and I know he’ll represent the Black & Gold well.”

Blackmon had a standout 2016 season, recording six interceptions and eight pass breakups. His six interceptions led the Big South Conference and it was the second-best total in the FCS. Blackmon was named to the All-Big South Conference First Team and he played in the Dream Bowl – an all-star game for college seniors – in January.

If Blackmon impresses the Colts coaches and staff, he will likely be signed to the roster and will return to the team when they start training camp in July.
