Kennesaw State Baseball Puts Up 15 on NJIT

Newark, NJ. –  Sunday was a good day for the Kennesaw State’s batters as they plated 15 runs on 16 hits in a victory against the NJIT Highlanders in Newark.

The Owls got off to a fast start by getting six runs on six hits in the first three innings at Riverfront stadium which was just the beginning of the offensive onslaught.

Kennesaw State scored two runs in the first, second, third, fifth, sixth, and three more in the seventh, one in the eighth and one more in the ninth to take its largest lead of the ballgame at 15-5.

KSU’s Gabe Friese gave the Owls 5 strong innings of 5-hit 3-run ball (1 earned) for his 38-start of his career.

Designated hitter Chris Erwin lead the offense with a 4-5 day with two doubles and a walk.

This victory gave the Owls the series win and improved their record to 22-27 overall and 10-8 in the ASUN Conference. It also helped clinch the Owls seventh consecutive ASUN conference post-season birth.

Next up, the Owls head to Macon, Ga. to take on the Mercer Bears for their final non-conference game of the season. First pitch is at 6pm on Tuesday the 16th of May.
