Kennesaw State’s Andy Eggerth Named Head Men’s Coach For Team USA at Capital Cup
KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth has been named men’s head coach for Team USA in the 2017 Capital Cup Combined Events Championship to be held July 3-4 in Ottawa, Canada.
The event is a fixture on the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge Series and brings together the best heptathletes and decathletes in the western hemisphere.
“It’s a huge honor and very humbling to coach Team USA in Canada this summer,” Eggerth said. “I love all of the track and field events which is why I particularly enjoy the combined events where you get sprints, jumps, throws, and distance all in one. It will be a pleasure to serve on the world’s greatest track team.”
Eggerth will coach the decathletes at the event. Since coming to KSU in 2010, He has coached 16 All-Americans, and his teams have won 13 ASUN Conference Track and Field Championships and one Cross Country title.
“Andy being named head men’s coach for Team USA is an incredible honor and is well deserved,” said Heath Senor, who is KSU’s Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and the Track and Field Program Administrator. “Andy’s hard work and dedication to both the men’s and women’s track programs at KSU is apparent to all who work with him, and now he is being recognized nationally. Team USA could not have made a better selection.”
Eggerth’s athletes have excelled in the combined events. During his six years coaching in the ASUN his decathletes have earn 12 All-Conference honors, four of those being Conference Champions. His athletes own the ASUN Conference decathlon record and 9 of the 10 event records within the decathlon, in addition to four All-American certificates in the combined events.
