KSU Football to host game at SunTrust Park in 2018
Kennesaw State teased a big announcement all week long and we now know what it is.
On Friday, KSU announced the football team will host a game at SunTrust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves, for the 2018 season. The game will be played on Nov. 18 and the Owls will face Jacksonville State.
“This is a historic day for so many reasons,” said Vaughn Williams, Director of Athletics at Kennesaw State. “I can’t thank Mike Plant and the Atlanta Braves organization enough for allowing the Owls to play the first football game at SunTrust Park. We are excited to provide our student-athletes, coaches, fans, and alumni the opportunity to see our football team play in such an incredible and unique venue. I know this will be a great event for Cobb County and the Northwest Georgia region.”
There will be a press conference with the Atlanta Braves and KSU on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Battery which is right next to SunTrust Park. There will also be a celebration as well as on-field recognition before the Braves game vs. the New York Mets.
Here’s a look at what SunTrust Park will look like when the Owls take the field next year.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to bring football to SunTrust Park than with Kennesaw State,” said Mike Plant, Braves president of development. “Vaughn Williams was integral in making this happen and we’re excited to host this game for Cobb County and Kennesaw State students, faculty and alumni.”
The Owls are entering their third year of playing football. Under head coach Brian Bohannon, the Owls have won 14 game in their first two seasons.
