Owls Notes: Blackmon In the NFL, Owls Jerseys and the Clear Bag Policy
KENNESAW, Ga. — With kick off 17 days away, the Kennesaw State football team returned to the practice field Monday afternoon to continue its preparation. The team broke Training Camp following Saturday’s scrimmage and enjoyed Sunday off before beginning classes Monday morning and practicing in the afternoon.
The Owls will now practice in the afternoons for the remainder of the season. The team opens 2017 Thursday, Aug. 31 at Samford, with the home opener set for Saturday, Sept. 9 versus Tennessee Tech.

Blackmon Makes NFL Preseason Debut
Former All-Big South Conference DB Dante Blackmon made his preseason debut Sunday night with the Indianapolis Colts. The Covington, Ga., native, who is the first Owl to sign with an NFL team, was impressive in his first pro action, finishing the game with three tackles (one solo) in the Colts 24-10 setback to Detroit. Blackmon led the conference in 2016 with six interceptions (second-most in the FCS) and eight pass breakups en route to first-team honors.
Kennesaw State Jerseys Voted by Fans Among Best in the FCS
An informal poll conducted recently by the NCAA.com voted Kennesaw State’s football jersey combinations in the Top 10 nationally in the FCS. Thanks in part to the school’s exclusive apparel deal with Adidas, the Owls boast a myriad of bold jersey combinations. Last season, the team debuted a new matte black helmet, and is exploring additional jersey combinations with Adidas. From the NCAA.com’s tweet: “Kennesaw State has one of the most vibrant and contrasting color schemes – black and yellow (editor’s note: they mean gold) – that results in several sleek uniform combinations.”
Owls Unveil Clear Bag Policy for Football Games
In continuing efforts to enhance fan safety at athletic events, the Kennesaw State Athletics Department will implement a new security policy regulating the size and type of bag that may be carried into Fifth Third Bank Stadium for football games, beginning this fall. The new “Clear Bag Policy” mirrors similar policies that have been adopted in the NFL, SEC and ACC to protect you, and those around you, inside the stadium.
