Varsity Club Embracing Former KSU, SPSU Student-Athletes

KENNESAW, Ga. – In continuing efforts to embrace the legacy of athletics at Kennesaw State University and Southern Polytechnic State University, the Kennesaw State Athletics Association’s Varsity Club looks to keep former student-athletes engaged and connected with the Owls.

All former student-athletes from either Kennesaw State or Southern Poly are automatically considered members of the Varsity Club, and the current roster includes more than 2,600 names.

We are actively seeking updated contact information and encouraging alumni to spread the word to their former teammates. Anyone wishing to update their information, or re-connect, may do so by either contacting Senior Associate Athletics Director Scott Whitlock (swhitlock@kennesaw.edu) or by visiting KSUOwls.com/formerstudent-athletes.

“It is incumbent on us to embrace the athletics legacy established by all of our former student-athletes,” said Whitlock. “Kennesaw State and Southern Poly each have incredible athletic traditions, and the Varsity Club hopes to honor them. We’re excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to engaging with our alumni.”

The Varsity Club’s goal is to host two main events each year to welcome all the former Owls and Hornets back to campus. One event will be targeted each spring, and one in the fall.

The first spring event is March 25 from 3-5 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium as the Kennesaw State baseball team hosts a doubleheader versus Canisius College. All former student-athletes are invited to attend a cookout, which is free and will include hot dogs, hamburgers, all the fixings, soft drinks and beer.

Baseball game tickets are free for the former student-athlete and one guest. Complimentary tickets must be claimed in advance using the promo code provided in the invitation. Additional tickets are $5. Any former student-athletes who did not receive the invitation are advised to contact Scott Whitlock.

Also that weekend, the annual Spring Football game is Friday night (March 24) at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, while the baseball series versus Canisius continues Sunday. The women’s golf team hosts the Henssler Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday (March 27 and 28) at Pinetree Country Club. The women’s tennis team welcomes Akron Tuesday (March 28) at 5 p.m.
